A LOVE NOTE FROM LIZZIE

I keep asking myself — why am I leaving a beautiful community of people who have walked beside me? Loved me? What is being asked of me?

While I write this, my heart is breaking with grief. Is it just me, or does grief for one loss invite all the unexpressed grief we've ever shoved down!?? Right now, it feels like my world is ending.

And in a very real way, it is.

I have decided to leave White Rock, BC, and head out on the open road. I feel this internal calling to move on. And unfortunately, to say yes to this calling, I have to let go of this place and all those I love here. It's giving me Paulo Coelho Alchemist vibes. Am I going out to seek my treasure? (Spoiler alert — it's always been inside me.)

Am I running from something? I've been sitting with that question. But I know the difference between running and answering the call for expansion.

I know what a calling feels like.

I followed a strong calling in 2015 that brought me here to Canada. I was standing in my office on a stormy day, watching a raindrop roll down the window, when I heard a voice — my voice — GO TO CANADA. I trusted the full-body yes, and just like that, the way unfolded magically in ways I could never have imagined.

At the time, I was still finding proof for my unexamined beliefs that I was unlovable, too much, and didn't belong. I had some idea of what I might do to follow my dreams, but honestly, I had no idea what would actually unfold or in what ways I would grow. How can we ever know?

To get a visa to stay in Canada, I trained as a therapeutic counsellor. It was a magical turn of events that transformed my whole experience of life on earth. It allowed me to explore all my shut-down places and learn how to fully be me — without apology, without self-abandonment. It changed me, my comedy therapy formula, and the way I showed up on stage and in my own life. Thank you, Canada.

Now I'm heading back to England, which confuses me, as I'm still hoping to get to the USA — another calling — but the Universe seems to be sending me on a detour first.

The invitation to join me at my London and Brighton ShowSperiences and my Laughter, Love and Light retreat are very much part of the journey. I would love to see you there. But beyond that, I don't know where the Universe will take me. Europe? Asia? It's both exciting and totally crazy-making. But when the Universe says jump, I say yes.

The net will appear…

But how far do I have to drop?

There is a false sense of safety in staying within the confines of the known — but that kind of safety feels like death to me. I am a creator, a jester, a modern-day travelling minstrel. I need the unknown, or I die.

I cannot ignore this yearning in me to get into the wild of the human experience.

What are you being called to step into — and what, if anything, is holding you back?

I'll leave you with this: what if letting go, however painful, was actually the best thing in the world — for you and for this world?

Next week I'll share my hardest goodbye.

I love you. I love you. I love you.

Lizzie
