I LOVE YOU

Dear beautiful human,

I’m here to drop some love into your world.

I’m in recovery, and having just celebrated 16 years of freedom from active addiction, I’ve been reflecting on the role that service has played in my continued success.

I have finally gotten it into my thick skull that helping others—for no other reason than to help others—has given me the greatest sense of purpose I’ve ever known. In fact, on some of my darkest days, what keeps me moving forward is the idea that if I can get through this moment and not cave to my addiction, I might be able to help someone else get through something similar.

Now I apply this way of being to every area of my life and work.

In my Hilarapy courses, I tell my students. “You are not here to get laughs. You are here to shine your light and give others permission to shine theirs.”

I see their backs straighten and their confidence rise—because we are naturally empowered when we seek to be of service rather than self-seeking.

Being of service is aligned with love and, therefore, aligned with the flow of life. When we serve others, we are served ourselves. It’s a natural law of abundance.

Today, I choose to be of service.

Today, I use my skills and talents to serve the world.
